| I will have to get some new images of my gear as I just had a recent major upgrade to my equipment.
Firstly im a Nikon boy ALL OVER, but in no way have anything against Canon.
BODIES: Nikon D3x (FX Format) Nikon D3s (FX Format) Nikon D300 x 2 (DX format) D90 (DX format) D3100 (DX format)
LENSES: Nikon - 14-24mm F2.8 Nikon - 24-70mm F2.8 Nikon - 70-200mmF2.8 Nikon - 60mm F2.8 Micro Nikon - 10.5mm F2.8 Fisheye (DX) Nikon - 105mm VR Micro Nikon - 12-24mm F4 (DX) Nikon - 50mm F1.8
And a few shitty kit lenses from when I first started
SPEEDLITES: Nikon - SB - 900 x 3 Nikon - SB - 800 x 1 Nikon - SB - 600 x 3 Triggered via pocket wizards.
This is all my main photographic gear, have a bunch of accessories to add to them all but cant be bothered naming them all!
Anyone that shoots or has shot with any of this gear, lemme know what you think about its performance.
At this stage my D3s is the work horse, doing basically EVERY shoot I have it was a MAJOR upgrade along with the 3 new lenses ( Nikon - 14-24mm F2.8 - Nikon - 24-70mm F2.8 - Nikon - 70-200mmF2.8 ) This camera has proven itself with in 1 month of shooting, the low light side of this camera is MIND BLOWING. Being able to shoot at 12800 and have no visible digital noise ( if anything it looks like film grain ) is AMAZING! The D3 and D3x will top out at 6400 then providing near un-usable images, though the D3s images are MORE than usable, with crisp sharp images with great color even in such dark environments!
The D3x is obviously the studio camera with MUCH higher quality for canvas and gloss prints, always being in conjunction with speed and studio lights, there isnt a need for ISO's over 200.
God I could go on and on, but I don't know who's going to read this haha?
<3 Phil.

| Hey 'hazphoto'
Nikons D3100 is a great body for anyone starting out or looking to get more indepth with a fairly inexpensive dslr body.
I bought this body for my girlfriend and shes loving it so far.
18-55mm 3.5-5.6 lenses are about as basic as it comes, but thats not to say you can get great images with them.
Use your 55-200mm for any portraiture work as the focal length will be great for that.
both of those lenses can be great for bright light shooting, though as soon as it gets darker that cant hold up to some of the 2.8/2/1.8 and 1.4 lenses.
If your looking for another lens I would throughly recommend a 50mm f1.8. They are quite cheap but great for shooting in darker situations.
check one out here.

If you can afford something a little more try either a 50mm1.4 or 35mm.1.8.
Better build quality and final results will be noticeable different but for the extra dosh.
http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/585343-GREY/Nikon_2180_AF_S_Nikkor_50mm_f_1_4G.html
http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/606792-GREY/Nikon_2183_AF_S_Nikkor_35mm_f_1_8G.html
Being there f1.8 lenses there SUPER fast and allowing really shallow depth in your images if shooting at 1.8, great for separating your subjects from the background to get them to bloom.

| Josh,
Ha Ha cheap ebay triggers are the BOMB man, I used them for years and still do.
I throughly recommend a 10.5mm fish if you can get one man, they are great, the distortion on them is just right, not to overpowering.

Lenses: Canon EF 75-300mm f/4-5.6 Telephoto Canon EFS 18-55mm
Some Canon bag, but I'm going to France over Spring Break and my birthday is a week before so I am hoping to order a backpack, flash, tripod, and a filter. I'm a noob at photography so a point in the right direction would be great.

| yes jake 430exii's are sooo nice. i have one and it makes me want to throw away my vivitar 285hv, which is supposed to be good but take like 40 seconds to reload on full power with brand new batteries, and usually someone can get ready to do the trick again in well under 40 seconds.. so its just annoying to shoot riding with. and everybody recommends them, idk why, maybe i just got bad ones or something. id deff get a 430exii forsure
edit: haha you actually have a 285hv.. didnt realize that for some reason. hopefully yours isnt wack like mine
